The Portfolio of Quality Education Web Resources is a student-created collection of Internet resources that each student deemed as worthy of professional use. To amass my collection, I broke down my first two units (Diversity of Life and Genetics) into concepts that I could tag. I also searched for non-specific resources for my last two units (Properties of Matter and Watersheds). I had a final set of tags that dealt with Internet-based assignments and media (such as WebQuests and Science in the News).

Reflection
While I created a Delicious account a couple years ago, I never truly realized its potential for educators until I had to compile the portfolio. I spent hours perusing the sites already bookmarked by other educators and discovered that through the social nature of the site, a lot of the grunt work had already been done for me. As an educator, having such a powerful tool at my fingertips can save valuable time that could be better used planning engaging, technology-driven lessons.
The portfolio is already benefiting educators other than myself as I have shared the link with the Science department at my school and the two other 7th grade Science teachers have expressed their delight with many of the websites I tagged, pledging that they will incorporate many of the sites into their future lessons. I fully intend to expand this portfolio as the school year continues and my familiarity with my new curriculum grows.
